Why Abbey Home Insurance Name Change?
Abbey Insurance is owned by Prestige Insurance Holdings. Prestige Insurance Holdings acquired Newry based broker Autoline in 2018 and relaunched under the AbbeyAutoline brand. This was one of the biggest ever mergers in Northern Ireland of two local insurance companies that were household names. Both brokers have been around since the 70s, Autoline was established in Newry and Abbey in Newtownards. As a result of the merger, Abbey Autoline are now by far the biggest broker in NI with over 22 branches province wide and a staff of over 400
The merger has enabled Abbey to expand beyond the 2 established home insurance NI and car insurance products and offer a range of personal line and business insurance products. These include car insurance for young NI drivers, travel insurance NI, van insurance, Self Build Insurance, Motorbike and taxi insurance. Their goal is to be a one-stop shop for all the insurance needs of the NI business community and personal insurance requirements of NI residents.
Abbey is competing in a very competitive marketplace and are against high street brands that include ASDA home insurance and new comers that include Elephant home insurance. With so much choice, it is wise to get a range of quotes on your journey to find a good and affordable and comprehensive home insurance policy.
Abbey Home Insurance Highlights
Like most insurance companies, Abbey likes to promote its ability to tailor polices to suit the needs of each individual. In practice, it means you can pick and choose certain elements to be added or excluded from your policy and in addition, for some elements you can choose the level of cover.
An Abbey home insurance policy can include the following:
What does Trace and Access Mean?
If you have water leaking from the ceiling, unlike a leaking tap, it is not evident where the leak is coming from. Plaster boards may need to be removed, and even then it could be internal wall pipes. This is from my own personal experience, once the fault is located the fix was easy, but you have all the additional costs of new plaster board, skimming and painting the ceiling etc.
Making A house insurance claim key points
Break ins are just part of living in some parts of Belfast, and it is best to take preventive action before you fall victim to this type of personal intrusion into your family home. The good news is that taking preventative measure such as installing an insurance approved security system will help reduce the cost of home insurance.
