Policy excess information

  • Compulsory excess – this is the standard excess, which is applied to all claims, except subsidence and escape or water, which carry their own compulsory excesses.
  • Voluntary excess – this enables you to increase the compulsory excess. You can select a voluntary excess when setting up your policy, which helps to reduce the premium.
  • Subsidence excess – required when making a claim for property subsidence.
  • Escape of water excess – to be paid in the event of a claim relating to water escaping from a fixed water source, drainage or heating installation. It also applies to water escaping from a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, water bed or even a fish tank.
